VFW Auxiliary-National Organization
In December, preschool children at Seaside United Methodist Church made cards for 25 World War Two veterans that were honored at a dinner hosted by VFW Post 7288, Calabash, North Carolina. Cathy Milstead, Auxiliary member at Post 7288, is a teacher at the preschool and involves the children in honoring and remembering veterans and active military during the year. The veterans were so touched by the cards that they wrote thank you notes! One of the thank you notes from a WWII recipient read in part "The best surprise that we had was to have been presented with your student’s Christmas Cards honoring us. I am delighted that your children, at that early age, recognize veterans and what they and those who are gone have contributed to our country.”
