The community is warmly invited to join VFW Post 7288 and Auxiliary 7288 in honoring America's veterans during a special Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the VFW Post home in Calabash.
The ceremony will recognize the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. Veterans, their families, local residents, and visitors are encouraged to attend this meaningful community event.
The program will begin with a welcome from Post Commander Wayne W. Grigsby Jr., followed by an opening prayer offered by Post Chaplain George Whitfield. The West Brunswick High School JROTC Department will present and retire the Colors during the ceremony.
Additional highlights include the Pledge of Allegiance led by Commander Grigsby, a performance of the National Anthem by Auxiliary President Cathy Milstead, and remarks from members of the VFW and Auxiliary.
The featured guest speaker will be COL (Ret.) Jim Wanovich, Commander of the West Brunswick High School JROTC Program, who will share reflections on military service, leadership, and the importance of remembering those who have served our nation.
The ceremony will conclude with a community singing of "God Bless America," performed by Julie.
Following the indoor ceremony, attendees are invited outside to Veterans Walk, located at the front of the VFW building, for a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Auxiliary and Post leadership will offer remarks celebrating this meaningful addition to the post and its continued commitment to honoring veterans in the Calabash community.
"This Veterans Day, we invite everyone to come together in gratitude and remembrance as we honor the men and women who have faithfully served our nation," said Post Commander Wayne W. Grigsby Jr.
