2018 Voice of Democracy and Teachers of the Year Winners

On February 21st, VFW Calabash Post #7288 Commander, Rick Arvonio, congratulates Retired Colonel Joseph Calisto, West Brunswick High School (WBHS) JROTC Teacher of the Year for VFW Calabash Post #7288 and VFW NC District 5 (1st Photo). Tara Cumbee, winner of the NC Department K-5 Teacher of the Year, pictured at the VFW Department Banquet held February 3 at Embassy Suites in Cary, NC (2nd photo).  Both will now compete for Teacher of the Year honors at the VFW National level.  In addition, awards were presented to this year's Voice of Democracy winners from WBHS JROTC. First Place for both VFW's Post #7288 and District 5 was Logan Gallaway; Second Place, DeVontae Frink; Third Place, Danielle Varnum; and Fourth Place Mayson Hatley.  All winners received a monetary award. Congratulations!
